Inspiration

This is the album cover I kept in mind when working on my posters. I really liked how the black popped against the color. There's also a lot of movement in the picture which has a fun feel to it.

Poster Process

For my poster I chose the band All Time Low. I started out just sketching in my sketchbook some ideas and then I started working in InDesign. For these first two posters I focused more in hierarchy. I tried to keep the background pretty simple. I was inspired by one of their album covers which used flat back against lots of bright colors, so I kept this theme in mind when designing these posters. I changed the font I had been using to impact because it seemed to match the feel of my poster much better than the copperplate.

VISSUMO business card design

As I was surfing the web I came across this designer's web site. David Airey is a graphic designer and on his web site he showed a bunch of his logos. He documented his process and it was pretty helpful to look through it!

Just some thoughts...

While flipping through the "Lettering and Type" book by Bruce Willen and Nolen Strals I saw some very interesting designs. This one image in particular stood out because I liked the way the words all looped together. It reminded me a bit of my idea for the drop cap. Often when doodling I'll write a few words and try to have them all linked and flowing in a very similar style.

Drop Cap

So for my first drop cap experiment I chose to work with the letter A, partially because it's the first letter of my name... how creative! I didn't have a set idea in mind so I began sketching out different styles of the letter A to see where it took me. The bottom image is the one I chose to work with further. I was thinking about plants and the way vines can wrap around each other for my inspiration.
